Georgetown Canal (Washington, DC)
A view of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal (the C & O Canal), as it passes through the center of Georgetown, in the District of Columbia. The historic C & O Canal stretches nearly 200 miles, starting in Cumberland, Maryland and ending in the Georgetown section of Washington, DC Built more than 150 years ago, the canal today is protected by the National Park Service, with a visitor center in the heart of Georgetown.
